The Lesotho National Museum was a competition project and was awarded to B+arch W Architects in 2004. B+archW is now part of Cube.
The museum will exhibit relevant Lesotho art and
history. The building is designed in the form of a kgotla and is to be built
with local materials such as sandstone, adobe earth walls and grass roofing
elements. There is an atrium in the middle, which also house fests an
amphitheatre. Two floors of exhibition space surrounds the atrium. In the
building also has an auditorium, cafeteria, administration offices and a
basement level for storage.
An external exhibition area is also designed to display traditional building methods.
